In a Timely Manor
Country life, being different from city life, was not for everyone. Many preferred the hustle and bustle of London, to the quiet days and uneventful evenings in the country. Everything happened at a slower pace, but not with any less emphasis on the latest gossip, fashion, or technology.
The Silsbury Manor house stood overlooking the town of Brill for hundreds of years. Generations of the Silsbury family had lived in this large, fifteen bedroom manor house, with a large library, accommodating servants quarters, and even a stable not far from the house itself.It was perfect for the Lord and Lady of the house to receive guests and worry about their own popular standing for so long.
The Lord and Lady turned their attention to their children when they returned from London at the end of the previous season. Their heir needs to be trained and taught how much Silsbury Manor really means to their family. They also have to find suitable matches for their daughters who are now all at the marriage age.
In the rest of the world, things are changing as well. 1908 saw the start up of the Territorial Forces, which were almost like a militia being set up in towns and villages. Brill has their own division of the Territorial Force with a Royal Garrison battalion settling into their routines, and setting up coastal artillery along the shoreline. The whole world seems to be changing around the town of Brill, as it struggles to hold onto its more strict Victorian ideals.
Welcome to In a Timely Manor. We are a no word count, short app historical site set in the early 1900s. Our site is set in the English countryside at a manor house called Silsbury Manor. It is filled with lords and ladies, maids, footmen, and other various working class citizens. Come and enjoy our hospitality. The weather is lovely this time of year.
